Growing up!

Hi...my name is Emily...and I am a horrible blogger!  I keep telling myself I will try to be better and make the time but just can't seem to get it together.  So no promises but I am going to try and be a lot better about posting.

It's storming outside today!  I love thunderstorms.  I love storm season really!  Gives me a good reason to do nothing but cuddle up with my kiddos and watch the rain!  They seem to really enjoy it as well.

Have had some challenging times over the past couple of weeks.  My baby girl has become quite the little diva.  Lincoln never through himself around or screamed the way this sweet little girl of mine has been doing.  The attitude it unreal!  Had an instance on Monday where I thought the devil had overcome her body and I was going to have to preform an exorcism.  All I could really do is laugh and try to calm her down.  That wasn't an easy thing just let me tell ya!  Girls are SOOO much different than boys.  At least in my case they are.  But none the less....I love them and they are my babies!  We will make it through this just in time for the pre-teen years..LOL!!

It just occurred to me this week that in 15 days my baby boy turns 4!  Time has just flown by so quickly.  He starts Pre-K next year and we are trying to transfer school districts since we are not happy with the one we live in.  Where the kids are at now is a great school.  They love it and I love their teachers.  BUT if we can get him into the school district we prefer until we can actually move into that district that would be great.  We will see!  I know our chances are probably slim but I'm going to pray a lot about it that things are supposed to turn out the way they are supposed to.
The fact that Lincoln is such a little man now really gets me sometimes.  He amazes me everyday with what he has overcome since being born so prematurely.  And I love that he gets to share his birthday with a very special little girl who's mom I happen to think is very special as well.  She has been such a great friend and confidant.  There are some days I'm not really sure what I would do without her friendship.  I can honestly say that about all of my girlfriends.  They have been a sounding board for me and given me such solid advice.  I am a lucky girl!

Had a great weekend in the city this past weekend.  We don't make it down nearly as much as we like/need to.  Busy lives get in the way.  It's sad really!  Lot's of family time and really enjoying the outside.  Actually had nice run with my FIL and had some really great conversations.  We don't get to talk much just he and I.  I was able to bounce something off of him and really get some guidance.  I am so lucky to have the inlaws that I have.  I got to love and snuggle on my 2 brand new baby nieces and have some great girl time with my SIL's and MIL.  I'm so blessed!

A young woman whom I have know for a quite some time made the biggest move of her life this past week.  I am so proud of her and what she is accomplishing right now.  She moved to Chicago and is experiencing life!  It's so scary but I will be praying for her that she stays strong and continues on this journey!  I told her to continue praying and going to church and make smart choices.  Stay strong Meggo!  I know you can do it and am so proud of the young woman you have become!  You're all grown up!!

Lot's to pray for right now and lot's of things weighing heavy on my heart!  Looking for some clarity and  guidance!

BLIZZARD!!!!

Well...the sky has officially fallen!!  We had a big blizzard come through late Monday and all day Tuesday!  It's so bad that Justin's office is even closed...which never happens!!!  But it has been pretty cool to watch.  Makes me so thankful for out warm home when it's this cold outside.  After it died down Justin attempted to get my car out of the garage to see if he would be able to head into work the next day.  That didn't happen.  Got stuck at the bottom and after 30 min of trying got it about halfway back up the driveway and gave up!  He ventured around 11am this morning and borrowed a snow shovel and regular shovel from some neighbors who are also friends of ours.  He was out there for 4 hours.  I was really concerned and kept checking on him to make sure he wasn't over doing it!  He did take a break though to have some play time with Lincoln and Lauren.  I was really skeptical about them going out with it being to cold but they had been begging me all morning and day so I gave in.  Luckily they have snow bibs and really good coats and gloves that I wasn't too concerned.  It's pretty sad when the kids have better snow gear than Justin and I.  May have to invest in some for ourselves as well.  Would really like to get out in it but I would be that lucky person to get frost bite!!

A pick up truck pulling an ambulance in our neighborhood.
They got stuck in front of our house!

Our good friend and neighbor Todd ran out with his shovel
to help them get unstuck.  Then even followed them down to
help some more.  What a guy!!

Another plow truck headed to help the ambulance....
he became stuck as well!  Luckily he was able to get himself unstuck!

Took the kids out to the garage so they could see

This was it...I noticed that the kids faces were turning
red and lots of snot dripping from their noses!!  It was time to go in.

They had a blast outside though!

We are, well the kids and I, are starting to climb the walls a bit....cabin fever!!!  Really hope we can get out and go to some friends house in the next couple of days.  In a selfish way though I am really glad it happened at the beginning of the week so be the weekend we can enjoy ourselves as a family!!  Lots of family time this week!  We snuggled up and watched movies!  Justin and I watched Secretariat...great move!  Makes me miss horse racing a bunch!  Highly recommend!  Also got some much needed closet organizing done though and have started gathering all my stuff together for the Just Between Friends sale!  Hoping to make some good money this season!!!  It's my way of contributing to the family!

Have really been trying lately to potty train Lauren.  Should have started yesterday but thought of it a little late.  But we started the day with big girl panties today.  She has only had 1 accident!!!  She has been realizing when she needs to go and lets me know.  Figured out the wording though.  Instead of asking her if she needs to go, I have been telling her to let me know when she needs to go!  And she is!!!!  I am so proud of her and really hope she can keep it up!  Would love to mark that off of my shopping list and not have to spend money on pull-ups anymore!

Looking forward to the weekend!  LifeKids Saturday night, serving and church on Sunday and then headed to some friends of ours for a Super-bowl/birthday party!!  Thank you to my awesome parents who are going to keep the kiddos so we can have a little break!  Love ya!

Been saying prayers and hoping everyone is staying warm and safe through this very cold weather!  News thermometer says 15 degrees!! YIKES!!!
